I was asked to redesign their website limebit.de and their developed platform opendiscourse.de. The two websites contents and subjects were different, but should visually relate to each other.
For the headlines, we decided to use Source Code Pro (a so called code font) relating to those fonts often seen in code text editors and Source Sans for body text to provide a good reading experience for the users. The colors were also matched those often used in code editors and were assigned to various areas of the website to create a kind of color code.
As key element we used geometric shapes relating to the slanted dot in the i of limebit to visualize data and their complexity. The element helps to break the websites grid and therefore helps to make it look more appealing offering the eyes some place to rest on and wonder. Therefore we refined the visual language by extracting their core competencies (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing) visually.
The page Opendiscourse useses the same grid, fonts, and icons, while the colours used, visual reference to the German Bundestag (black, red and yellow), which are of course the colours of the german flag but also secondary and primary colors of the limebit page.
As a graphic element, we used collages, which were offering great freedom in context, interpretation and complexity. Once the designs and interfaces were finalized, the websites were developed inhouse by the agency limebit.
Open Discourse lets humans and machines analyze the protocols of the German Bundestag debates. The platform's text search tool allows users to search through the plenary protocols. The analysis tool enables complex analysis of political language and the examination of speeches for patterns.
